Hello! I’m Beau

I’m a UI/UX Designer disguised as your neighborhood barista that makes your medium iced vanilla oat milk latte with two shots.

Based in Richmond, Virginia, my background in customer service has provided me direct experience with the public and trained me to properly listen to and understand people’s needs for a decade. This perspective allows me to approach design with an empathy driven and user-centric mindset, ensuring that the solutions I develop are not only functional, but also appealing to users. As far as I see it, UI/UX differs only slightly from customer service, fusing empathy with my penchant for creativity and problem solving.

My UI/UX Journey

My professional and personal lives have gone through many iterations, but all with one common thread: being of service to others.

Reaching another season in my life after moving halfway across the country in 2022, I arrived to my new environment welcoming change. I yearned for growth through new challenges, discovering UI/UX Design, where I combine my desire for helping my fellow man with my ability to devise creative solutions for complex problems. The dynamic nature of the field in which one could be considered a lifelong student is extremely attractive to me, providing ample opportunity for personal and professional development.

When I’m away from the computer…

I love to hike and be outside!

  • It’s a familial tradition to go “hunting” each spring for my favorite edible mushroom, the coveted Morel of the genus morchella.

  • I collect bones, sustainably sourced from whatever died naturally on the forest floor. I create art pieces with them when I get creatively inspired, usually in the form of mobiles, wind chimes, or hanging wall ornaments.

  • I keep a hammock in my car for emergency lollygagging. Many-a naps have been had while suspended between two trees, gently swaying with the wind.

My self care looks like:

  • Weekly homemade dinners with friends.

  • Giving myself grace in all of my endeavors.

  • Picking up and/or touching small creatures.

  • Lifting weights and battling the stair master 2-3 times a week.

  • Buying myself a sweet little treat, preferably frozen custard.

  • Getting comfy on the couch to watch a scary movie with my cat and a big bowl of popcorn.

  • Letting my creative juices flow through arts and crafts, or whatever new hobby has piqued my interest this month.
